It is presented the result of two projects of investigation supported by the Institute of the Woman on the work positions appraisal and its relation with the salary discrimination. In the first one there is devised a synthesis of the most utilized procedures of appraisal, discussing possible discriminatory elements and establishing mathematical models and data processing programs to calculate the weight of the factors. In the second project there was established a manual of good practices from the analysis of the situation of the member countries.
